Hi there! I'm Erin, an L&D manager, instructional designer, and content developer.
Me doing some of my favorite things: skiing, yoga, hiking, traveling...
L&D is one of those fields that people often stumble upon unintentionally. Here's the story of how I found my way into this vibrant community!
As a graduate student at the University of Colorado (CU), I needed courses in Spanish and French to complete my Ph.D. However, I had an infant at the time, and I needed to be home as much as possible. I found the wonderful world of remote, self-paced education, and it allowed me to complete my Ph.D.
Asynchronous remote learning changed my life.
Two years later, I won a Digital Pedagogy Grant to partner with the Independent Learning department at CU to design and deliver remote learning based in adult learning theory. There I witnessed firsthand the life-changing capacity of meaningful and memorable digital design.
Ever since, I have continued to grow my skills via experience, certifications, networking, upskilling, and presenting at conferences. I never want to stop learning how to be the best people manager, team leader, and content developer I can be.
I'm especially passionate about accessibility, inclusivity, kindness, and connection.
Every person should feel welcomed, valued, and seen. I strive to make the world a little brighter through bringing my high Emotional Intelligence (EQ) to the teams I thoughtfully build and lead. Together, we work hard to design human-centered, accessible learning experiences in a spirit of uplift and respect.
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, teaching yoga, hiking to waterfalls, studying moss, playing the violin, learning new board games, and traveling all over this big, beautiful world. I'm deeply committed to sustainability and doing my small part to make the world more hospitable, humane, and green.
